OPERATION BIG BOOK BAG
Operation Big Book Bag was established in 1996 partnership with the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order, Nobles Mystic Shrine, Inc. (Shriners). The goal was to provide access, tools and mentorship for school age children.
Access can be provided through many forms such as educational tutorial websites, computers, iPads, laptops, software, flashcards, learning games, and reference materials. Tools can include basic school supplies such as pencils, paper, pens, rulers, calculators, notebooks and student planners to support the students with their coursework.
Current Operation Big Book Bag Efforts
Now through September 22nd the National Projects Committee of the Alpha Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc will be collecting school supplies for our Operation Big Book Bag National Program. In this centennial year we have challenged our chapter and partnering organizations to help donate supplies to 22 schools!
If you would like to donate supplies, please contact the National Projects Coordinator Kinshasa Allender. nationalprojects@alphasigma1922.org or click the donate button below.
The Results of last year's Operation Big Book Bag with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
We were so pleased to help with Indiana Public School #87 (where Founder Marbury served as Principal for nearly 40 years).
With the help of your support and contributions, we were able to donate to both Diggs Academy and George Washington Carver School #83. Your efforts and donations for both events equaled over $1000.
We have been asked to continue supplying School #83 with masks, hand sanitizer, and Kleenex when possible, as they provide these items to their bus drivers.
Please contact Soror Tre’Lique Tinker-Martin for donation drop off or pick-up. We will repeat these efforts again in January of 2022
If you would like to give a monetary donation, payments can be made via Paypal* to alphasigma1922@yahoo.com. *Please be sure to use the friends and family option and ensure that any fees charged are paid for by you, not taken out of the donation.
