Alpha Sigma Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter

2025 Scholarship Application

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (ΣΓΡ) was founded on November 12, 1922, at Butler University in  Indianapolis, Indiana by seven educators. It is the mission of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority to enhance the  quality of life for women and their families in the U.S. and globally through community service. Our goal  is to achieve greater progress in the areas of education, healthcare, and leadership development. Our  members, affiliates, staff, and community partners work to create and support initiatives that align with  our vision. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is the only one of the four National Pan-Hellenic Council  (NPHC) sororities that was founded at a predominantly white campus. We understand the historic  obstacles for youth to achieve higher education and continue to actively endeavor to eradicate  remaining barriers. The Alpha Sigma Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is  committed to helping young people succeed. This includes ensuring that students have access to the  financial resources they need to obtain a college education.

This year, the Alpha Sigma Chapter will be partnering with the Seven Beacons Foundation to provide a  total of $8,000 to deserving students within the Indianapolis community. The Seven Beacon Foundation  builds stronger families and communities through the development of initiatives and support to  organizations that promote education and commitment to service.

Seven Beacons Foundation is organized exclusively for educational and philanthropic purposes. The  objectives of the organization include:

• To provide educational scholarship opportunities to Indiana students.

• To assist with local projects that benefit the community.

• To support the current national projects of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

• To serve as a conduit to receive local and national corporate and grant funding.

• To support local graduate and undergraduate chapters in programs/events.
